Other British qualifiers join the Round of 16 in the Europa and Conference Leagues in March
The draw for the first knock-out round of the Champions League has pitted the two remaining clubs from the Premier League, Arsenal and Manchester City, against Porto and FC Copenhagen.
Both English sides will play their away leg first, in mid-February, with the return scheduled for early March.
Arsenal fans last travelled to Porto for a Champions League fixture in 2010. The capital of northern Portugal is a cinch to get around, the metro connecting the airport to the stadium and city centre, and football bars aplenty.
The home of Carlsberg, Copenhagen can provide a great football break, the national Parken stadium where FCK also play an easy hop from town.
The other three British teams, Celtic, Newcastle and Manchester United, having finished bottom of their groups, none qualify for the Europa League, the draw for which was also made. The pick of the knock-out ties is Feyenoord v Roma, a repeat of the 2022 Conference League Final, and currently homeless Ukrainians Shakhtar Donetsk against Marseille.
Group winners Liverpool, West Ham, Brighton and Rangers go through to the Round of 16 in March.
The final of the Champions League takes place at Wembley, of the Europa League the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
In the Conference League, the knock-out round play-off brings Union Saint-Gilloise and Eintracht Frankfurt together, and Olympiacos and Ferencváros. Aston Villa will join for the Round of 16 in March. The final takes place at AEK’s Agia Sophia Stadium in Athens.
